From ragtime to techno. From
Lower East Side tenements to Fifth Avenue penthouses. From lust to
love and back again. A sweeping romance both epic in scope and
heartrendingly intimate, this sprawling record of our recent past melds
pop culture, sex, and history in a whirlwind tour of the Twentieth
Century’s highest and lowest moments. Adapted freely from Arthur
Schnitzler’s legendary “La Ronde”, Twenty traces the
history of eleven men and women from various walks of life, as they fall
in and out of love, bed, and time. Fact and fiction blend
seamlessly in this steamy, intimate, emotionally charged piece as a
ghostly parade of starcrossed romantics confess their desires, hopes,
dreams, and fears to their lovers. Moving, funny, unnerving,
unsparingly honest, each scene captures an instant in the life of the
fastest, largest, most frightening, most intriguing hundred years in
recorded times. Twenty featured DMTheatrics regulars Bob Brader (Nevada Territory, Bitch Macbeth), Lara Hughes (Who in the Hell is the Real, Live Lorelei Lee?), Tom Mazur (Quicksand, Antony & Cleopatra), Josh Mertz (The Fugitive Girls, House of Trash), Kevin Myers (Sugarbaby), and Moira Stone (Kookamonga Falls, The Stranger), and featured new players Sarah Bloom and Lauren Seikaly. It also marked the onstage return of director Frank Cwiklik, making his first acting appearance since late 2000.
